Dad on the loose
Beware! Dad on the loose. I had the chance for a night out recently to catch up with some friends. Trouble is, these days, when I get a chance to have some time off all I want to do is go to bed early. It’s the downside of parenting I guess.
Sure enough, heading into London on the train, I nodded off before I got to Waterloo. I decided that a good way to blow the cobwebs away was to jump on a Santander bike, after all, I was going to meet my cycling teammates, it seemed appropriate. Having said that, I got to the pub we were meeting at and had to ride around for another 5 mins trying to find a docking station.
This annual get together of my cycling mates is a good chance to look back at the season just gone and dissect the various races we’ve ridden. Ok I’ve not raced bikes for a couple of years now so the evening was mostly spent discussing what toddler and baby groups I take the girls to. The rest of the time was explaining to the chaps what my new existence as a stay at home dad is all about and yes, I really am very busy these days.
It was a great night and I eventually got in just after midnight. Fortunately the girls didn’t stir until 6am. I still spent the rest of the day looking forward to getting to bed before 10pm.
Funny how life has changed.
