Feeling the love
A few weeks ago I read the following post from top Dad blogger Nige Higgins; “Where Has The Blog Love Gone?” He was talking about what a lovely community the blogging world was, but also he’d noticed an unwelcome change with people taking digs at other bloggers on social media.
Why I started blogging
It’s not something I’d thought about a great deal. I started this blog back in October, partly to share my thoughts and experiences as a new stay-at-home Dad, but also to keep me busy and improve my writing to boot. I quite enjoyed (to a point) the technical aspects of setting up my own website, the process of getting social media accounts setup and linked with the blog. It’s been a learning curve that’s for sure and is definitely helping fill in the (very limited) gaps in my day.
Just recently my thoughts have turned to growing the blog and what happens next. I have the website, Facebook and twitter accounts, what now?. To be honest if you look on any of the top bloggers websites there’s usually a post of some kind referring to how to grow your blog.
I dropped Nige a quick email to see if he could offer any advice, as I’ve read before, there’s no secret formula apparently, just keep producing good content and keep on top of your social media. As a favour (I didn’t realise he’d done this), Nige very kindly tweeted his followers asking for retweets and follow for my twitter account @WearsWife on my behalf.
Feeling the love!
In the space of an hour I had more followers than my personal twitter account had amassed in eight years! So much encouragement and love came back from the community of Dads and Mums, it’s been overwhelming.
So I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone out there for all the support. Bloglove….it’s real, keep it going.
